Selflessness, Sacrifice, Love
The principle of unselfishness is an important teaching of the Holy Trio and constitutes the very first step in the three main spiritual paths of Karma, Bhakti and Jnána. Monks of the Ramakrishna Order look upon their Sangha as the mystical body of Sri Ramakrishna, and they learn to merge their individual egos in the collective will of the Sangha. Furthermore, all their work and its fruit are offered as worship to the Lord. Individual members of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission do not claim credit for their actions.
Be a Volunteer at Ramakrishna Kutir
The programs and celebrations at the Ashrama are executed by a combination of monastics and volunteers. Volunteers serve the Math with dedication and devotion. The Math offers ample opportunity for people with an earnest desire to serve fellow human beings as a service to God itself. Such selfless service helps to attain great heights in both material and spiritual life. Voluntary service can be rendered in a way that suits one’s interests and one’s expertise. It could be within the Math precincts, or even outside the Math premises. Some of the ways in which the volunteers work with the Ashrama are - gardening, arrangements for seminars, preparations for special occasions & pujas, assist with office work, coordinating with schools & colleges, cleaning the campus,
photography & videography and so on.
Beyond volunteering, the Ashrama needs the professional expertise of selfless and dedicated individuals to oversee pivotal projects. For the various construction works going on inside the Ashrama or as part of the rehabilitation effort in and around Almora, experienced architects and engineers who can spend some time at the Ashrama guiding these projects would be a great assistance to the Math. As a token of appreciation, we may be able to offer a small honorarium.
